back in the saddle

Well, it's been almost a year since I've posted anything up here on my training blog. A fair amount has happened since you've heard from me last. I competed in and finished the St. Anthony's Triathlon last April through Team in Training. I did my first adventure race that next weekend. I ran a couple of half-marathons, one at the last minute, and one to qualify for a preferred start at Chicago. I also wrecked in spectacular fashion at a sprint tri in Indy. I did some great camping/climbing/hiking with my girlfriend in the North Cascades (pictures to come soon!). I also completed my first half-ironman triathlon (which wasn't without it's issues). I also ran my first marathon in 3:34. But far and away, the most import thing I did last year didn't happen on a bike, or in a pair of running shoes. In fact, I was in a dress shirt and khakis when it happened. This momentums event last year was me signing up for the Wisconsin Ironman race this September! Yikes! I've been talking about doing an Ironman for a few years now, but now that I've pushed all my chips in the middle it's time to pay the piper and put the miles in.

That's where this training blog will come in handy. Even though only a few people read it last year, it still gave me a greater sense of accountability. By making my training intentions know, hopefully it will add that last bit of motivation I'll need to get out of bed on those cold rainy Saturdays and hit the pavement. So if you've happen to stumble across this blog, I ask that you leave a few words of encouragement and check back every once in a while to see I've made the progress that I've promised myself.

Don't worry, as the days and weeks roll on, I'll be updating my blog not only with my current training regimen, but also stories and pictures from last year. I've been a little under the weather recently, but look for a complete training schedule in the next week or so.
